The Process to Get FSSAI Registration in India

Following are the Step by Step Process for obtaining the FSSAI Registration by the food operators:

• Fill and complete the form online and submit it to authority as:

• Attach the self-attested declaration as per the format along with the form.
• On the receipt of an application, authority scrutinises the application for its correctness.
• Authority can call for further information, and in case the application is completed in all aspects, it can approve the same.
• After examining such an application, the authority shall carry on the food inspection & thorough investigation.
• If the inspector is satisfied with the premise cleanliness, food hygiene, procedures implemented and assured the food quality shall forward its report to the concerned authority with necessary remarks for the issuance of FSSAI License.
• The whole process can take up to 60 days for the issuance of a final license.

Paper-Work for FSSAI License

Documentation varies depending upon the License, which is as follows:

a) Documents for Basic FSSAI License:

• Passport size photograph of an applicant
• Copy of Voter Id and Aadhar of an applicant for Id proof
• Copy of PAN of applicant
• Copy of address proof such as a mobile bill, gas bill, electricity bill, etc.
• Registry of the premise in case of owned premise
• NOC from landlord or Rent Agreement if the premise is on rent.

b) Documents for State/Central FSSAI Registration:

• Complete details such as name, address and contact details of promoters, partners, proprietor, etc.
• Passport size photograph of an applicant
• Copy of PAN of applicant
• Copy of address proof amongst mobile bill/gas bill/electricity bill.
• Id proof such as Aadhar/Voter Id/Driving License
• Provide Certificate of Incorporation in case an applicant is a company.
• MOA & AOA of the company
• If an applicant is a co-operative society, it shall provide a copy of the certificate obtained under the co-operative society act.
• If the applicant is a distributor, provide NOC from the manufacturer.
• E-code issued by Directorate General of Foreign Trade

c) Documents for FSSAI License by Manufacturing and Processing Unit:

• Layout plan of processing or manufacturing unit showing dimensions and area.
• List of machinery and types of equipment installed along with their capacity
• List of food elements that shall get manufactured
• Authorisation letter nominating the person responsible for assisting in obtaining FSSAI License and for the incidental work related to that.The analysis report of water to be used for food manufacturing and processing activities

Fees for FSSAI License

Following is the fee structure for different category of Licenses:

a) The fee structure for Basic License: Government Fee for small retailers, manufacturers, producers whose annual turnover doesn’t exceed INR 12 Lakhs eligible for Basic License is INR 100 per year.

b) The fee structure for Central License: Government Fee for Central FSSAI License whose turnover exceeds INR 2 Crore is INR 7500 per year. This fee is payable for applying for the new license, renewing an expired license, or for modifying the existing permit.

c) The fee structure for State License: Government fee for food operators whose annual turnover exceeds INT 12 Lakhs to INR 2 Crore applying for state license varies as per its capacity and units of manufacturing from INR 2000 to INR 5000 per year.
